This is one of the most thought provoking articles written since the series started. Don't miss reading it.
But Battlestar Galactica -- which has been described by critics as "the best show on TV today" -- is not really about space at all. It's more a drama that happens to be set in space. The show is about human relationships and what happens to survivors after a holocaust of such immense proportions.
Now, here's where the parallels with our own universe become sinister. The Cylons -- the genocidal bad guys -- are monotheistic believers in what they call the "one true God" while the humans are a bunch of polytheistic pagans who pray to little idols they keep in their storage lockers.
The Cylons believe God speaks directly to them and their actions -- however morally and ethically reprehensible -- are according to a carefully laid out (and slowly revealed) "Big Plan." The Cylons have somehow internalized a belief that they are the new inheritors of the mantle of Moses (or Zeus in this case) with humans as the infidels who must be eliminated at all cost.
Sound at all familiar?

You can catch the second webisode segment now on SciFi.com. In this one, the pilot from the first refuses to join the resistance because he has other plans. Tyrol comments that he too has a wife and son, but he is doing what he can. In a segment ripped out of the current world news, the reistance leaders decide to hide their weapons in the one place that the Cylons respect and will not search; their temple.

At the end of season two of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, Gaius Baltar (played by James Callis) was President, and the Cylons had invaded New Caprica to take control of the last remnants of humanity. Is Baltar the villain that most people think he is, or is he the only character on a television show that is willing to be human when others are trying so hard to be super-human? Only James Callis can answer those questions, and tell us what is happening next. During the break in filming for season three, iF MAGAZINE caught up with Callis and got some interesting NEW info about the upcoming season on the SCIFI Channel which kicks off with a two-hour season premiere on October 6. Read the full feature here.
